Graced with a small but beautiful waterfall that generations of Gahanna residents have grown up playing in, Creekside is a wonderful park in which to cool off the summer heat with water play, a paddle boat ride, fishing (with a valid Ohio fishing license), or wading in Big Walnut Creek.
Swans and ducks are popular attractions along the creek’s edge, and beautiful to watch from the picnic tables while you eat.
This Gahanna City Park offers a lovely waterfall, walking, biking, fishing, herb gardens, accessible walking trails, and heated/cooled restrooms. Close to nearby Olde Gahanna shopping and dining, it’s great as a combined trip, or a stand-alone park.
Gahanna is committed to expanding the bikeway and greenway space, connecting neighborhoods and multi-use parks. Creekside has trails and a bikeway running through it that are perfect for biking, walking, running, and inline skating. They are also accessible for our neighbors with disabilities and small children.
With nature programming from May through October, and Winter Programs from November through December, this is a true four season city park.

SO exciting to little readers and their families is the STORY TRAIL at Friendship Park, an outdoor reading experience for children designed to go with the book “In the Tall, Tall Grass” by Denise Fleming. The pages of the books are enlarged and placed along the trail! Your local library or bookstore would be a great place to pick up a copy of the book, so kids can read the book before or after they go. Either way, this is one for their memory books!
This small Gahanna beauty is a city park that also offers basketball and tennis courts, playground, creek access for wading and fishing, a butterfly garden, two rain gardens, trails, picnic areas and shelters for reservation.
The butterfly garden is full of blooms and scents to attract the insect beauties, and the two rain gardens are full of beautifully landscaped plants and features.
The playground is large, appropriate for all ages, and a great place to run off energy for those school-free summer days.
Friendship Park is attractive as a three season park, but there are sometimes winter programs offered during the colder months through Gahanna Parks and Rec.

The time to pause, for paws, is finally here!
April through November, Paws in the Plaza runs the first Thursday of each month from 4:30 p.m. to dusk. In concert with the Gahanna Animal Hospital, the Animal Care Center at Cherry Way, and Barkin For Batten, the Olde Gahanna Community Partnership (OGCP) brings you this annual event. It takes place at Creekside Plaza (Mill Street) in Gahanna.
What happens on Thursday nights? It’s more like what doesn’t happen!
This pet-friendly event offers places for you and your pets at certain shops and even restaurants with extra treats! In the past there have been a variety of goodies for our four-legged friends, including free nail trimmings, a pet medium/communicator, vendors and products, some free goodies, pet businesses, and pet services.
What’s that? You don’t have a pet; but want one? Can do. On hand will be some adoption/rescue groups with animals just waiting for a home like yours.
Want to find out more? Paws in the Plaza has a Facebook Page which can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/PawsinthePlaza.
See you Thursday?
