60 Days of Summer Columbus OH Fun Activities To Do

The best Metro Park for birding, Pickerington Ponds has been designated as an Ohio Important Birding Area by Audubon Ohio. This park is a prime spot for bird-lovers, with over 260 species of waterfowl, shore birds, and land birds. Deer, beaver and fox can also be seen at the park.

With scenic trails to walk, and a picnic area, Pickerington Ponds doesn’t offer playgrounds or natural play areas, but is worth a visit for the vast wealth of wildlife and beautiful natural features. Don’t miss the picnic area; even if you don’t bring food…it has an observation deck and a scope for viewing the osprey nest, and other bird activity.

Pickington Ponds has access to the Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail, which extends to and connects with Blacklick Woods Metro Park, and Three Creeks Park, perfect for biking or rollerblading, or for our friends and neighbors with disabilities.

Do investigate this park again in other seasons, the nature programs are year-round, and the migratory birds use the park as a stop on their way North or South in spring and autumn.
