December Holiday Events at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus

The Victorian age Ohio Statehouse, located at 1 Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio, is an historic landmark and a popular place to visit all year around. Over the holidays, several f-r-e-e events are open to the public, almost every day.

Do you love all the trappings of the holidays? Would you like to look at historical objects from an earlier time? As it happens, the Ohio Statehouse, at 1 Capitol Square in Columbus, has what you and your family may be looking for! You can look and enjoy for free! In fact, the Statehouse has a list of three recurring events almost every day in December, with something for everyone in the family. Please note, however, the Choir Performances end on December 21st. Here’s the line-up of daily events:

Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting

Thursday, December 1st from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.  This free family-friendly event is open to the public and will be held indoors in the Statehouse Atrium.  Join Historical characters, modern dignitaries and Santa and enjoy refreshments, arts & crafts activities, games and special performances by local choirs and dancers.

Holiday Choir Performances

December 5 through December 20, held in the Museum Gallery, from noon – 1:00 pm.  Enjoy a free lunchtime concert as Ohio choirs and musical groups celebrate and sing the songs of the season. Open to the public.
