Big Walnut Local Schools is located in Galena and Sunbury, and 25 minutes northeast of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Big Walnut has three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, serving over 2,700 students. Ohio Department of Education awarded Big Walnut Local Schools the rating of Excellent with Distinction for exceeding the academic standards set by Ohio in the last school year reported. Big Walnut Schools also offer special programs such as fine arts, music with bands and choirs, theatre, award-winning athletic program, 7 AP courses, Honors curriculum, and 3 foreign languages. They also offer business and broadcasting courses, psychology, agricultural science, and aerospace science.
