If your family would love a nearby summer getaway, consider Alum Creek State Park! With 286 campsites with beach and boat ramp access, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, nature programs, and hot showers, this camping trip is fabulous AND close to home in case of nasty weather!

Looking for a more civilized getaway? Four cabins are available for rent, and come fully furnished with fully equipped kitchen and bath, as well as air conditioning and TV/DVD and stereos. Four more primitive cabins are also available for the more rustic-loving families.

Dog-Friendly Amenities

Pet lovers will appreciate the dog park, which includes separate areas for small and large dogs, as well as fenced water access for water-loving breeds to enjoy.

Alum Creek Trails and Water Activities

Explore the natural beauty of Alum Creek State Park through its hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and bridle trails (perfect for horseback riding if you bring your own horse).

The park’s reservoir is 3,387 acres of water, with four launch ramps, swimming at the largest inland beach in Ohio, and fishing for bass, bluegill, crappie, walleye, and saugeye. Please note that valid Ohio fishing and boat registrations are required for fishing activities.

Disc Golf and Year-Round Activities

Disc golf is a great activity for families to share, and Alum Creek State Park not only has an 18 hole course for free, but they offer equipment rental! This is a great sport, and an easy way to see if your kids or friends will enjoy it without investing in equipment to play.

Alum Creek State Park is a destination for all seasons. Beyond summer beach picnics, the park offers year-round nature programs and a range of outdoor activities. During winter, visitors can enjoy sledding, ice skating (weather permitting), ice fishing on the reservoir, and even boating and skiing when conditions allow.
