16 Places to Sled in Central Ohio

The snow has fallen and it is time to break out the sleds and hit the hills in Central Ohio! Columbus Metro Parks offer prime sledding with hay bale barriers for safety, and are often patrolled by park personnel with first aid experience. Some city parks also offer sledding hills. We highly recommend these public areas over the hills behind churches and schools which may involve trespassing! As always, be safe and stay warm!
Note: OSU has banned sledding from its golf courses…so please be advised that even the popular hills in Upper Arlington are now off limits.

Here are 16 Places to Sled in Central Ohio:

1. Antrim Park at 5800 Olentangy River Road in the Clintonville/Worthington area has a sledding hill for small children. Not for the adventurous, but great for the little ones.
2. Battelle Darby Creek Park at 8465 Alkire Road at the canoe access has a very popular huge hill with plenty of parking and restrooms.
3. Blacklick Woods Metro Golf Course at 7309 E. Livingston Ave in Reynoldsburg has a good hill on the golf course.
4. Blendon Woods at 4265 E. Dublin-Granville Rd in Westerville has a small hill near the entrance, take a right at the Y from the entrance to find it.
5. Clinton-Como Park at the west end of Weber Road in Clintonville has a sledding hill.
6. Community Park at 402 N Hamilton Road in Whitehall offers sledding.
7. Fryer Park at 3899 Orders Road in Grove City offers sledding.
8. Highbanks Metro Park at 9466 Columbus Pike in Lewis Center has two hills at the end of the park at the Big Meadows parking lot. Parking is very limited, although there are other lots a short hike away. The big hill does have trees at the end, so caution is needed. The little hill is great for small kids, and ends in hay bales. Easy to watch older kids from the warmth of your car if you like, too.
9. Municipal Park at 3800 Veterans Memorial Drive in Hilliard offers sledding.
10. Olentangy River Parkland on 600 West Wilson Bridge Road has a medium hill with very limited parking. This isn’t as steep as some hills, but offers long runs for snowboarders and sledders. The DIY hills near the road are not recommended.
11. Schiller Park at 1069 Jaeger Street in German Village offers sledding.
12. Scioto Park (Leatherlips Park) at 7377 Riverside Drive in Dublin has a steep hill and a little hill, plus a designated walkway for returning to the top. Parking is in smaller lots, so circle around to find parking if you don’t see any at the top.
13. Sharon Woods Metro Park at 6911 Cleveland Avenue in Westerville is right across from St Ann’s Hospital. Parking is at the top of the hill. This isn’t the steepest hill in town, but it offers one of the longest runs for sledders and snowboarders.
14. Sycamore Creek Park at 500 Hereford Drive in Pickerington offers sledding.
15. Whetstone Park of Roses at 3923 N. High Street has at least two hills, one with limited parking.
16. Wyman Woods at 1520 Goodale Blvd in Grandview Hts offers a 25 foot sledding hill.
