Sharon Woods Metro Park has a great fishing spot for families! Schrock Lake allows for bluegill, bass, and catfish fishing by Seniors and children 15 and under, and is a great place for a first fishing experience, or a grandchild/grandparent fishing trip. Close to home for tired toddlers or teens, it offers a safe, comfortable fishing experience.
Sharon Woods is one of our best known Columbus Metro Parks but is worth visiting often. With playgrounds, nature programs, fishing, natural play area, and picnic areas as well as walking trails, this is a beautiful, classic place to spend summer days!
Cyclists, inline skaters, and families with disabled or stroller-loving members will love the four miles of paved trails. For the more able or adventurous, there are 3 miles of unpaved nature trails that wind along stream beds and wetlands…do use mosquito protection on these trails in high summer!
The nature preserve here boasts original old growth trees that have been growing and thriving here for over 100 years, definitely worth the walk to enjoy an increasingly rare sight.
Thinking of throwing a party this summer? The Spring Hollow Lodge offers rustic beauty as well as the whole park of amenities and can be reserved for events such as family reunions or birthdays.
Sharon Woods is a four-season park, with year-round nature programs, and great sledding and skiing come snowfall!

Bad weather got you down? Wishing you could do a summertime activity, but not in the pouring rain?
The Westerville Community Center’s pool, known as the Watering Hole, is wonderful indoor pool with low daily rates for both residents and non-residents. Check the website for current open swim hours, as they can change frequently, but 1-5 pm daily is usually an all ages free swim time.
Worthington and Dublin also have indoor Rec Center pools, check their websites for daily rates for both residents and non-residents.

Whether or not your children have fallen in love with the storybook classic, this secret garden in Central Ohio is the beautifully designed “Sisters’ Garden” with lots of climbing and play areas filled with beautiful scenery and foliage. One play area is themed with quotes and references to the classic L.M. Montgomery story! Plenty of walking trails wind throughout the various gardens, and self-guided tour information is available at the walk-through arbor near the parking area.
One of our many outstanding Metro Parks, Innis Woods is unique in that it is man-made and designed gardens and not simply a natural park. Theme gardens include a memorial garden, rose garden, herb garden, and woodland rock garden, as well as the children’s Sisters’ Garden. Plant displays include specialty collections of hostas, daylilies, and daffodils, Innis Woods is a true botanic treasure.
Especially important to our friends and neighbors with small children and disabilities, much of the trail is paved, providing safe and easy access for explorers of all ages and abilities, as it is ADA accessible.
Enjoy all four seasons at this lovely garden park, especially at the changes of the season. Park programs are offered all twelve months of the year. Paved trails make this park accessible to everyone all year round.
