City Overview – Tour of Columbus

August 22, 2012 by The Columbus Team

Capital City Tours say on their website that Columbus is a “little gem of a city does have a lot to offer.” We couldn’t agree more! Every season, and every day, there is a variety of wonderfully diverse things to do, places to see and enjoy in the Columbus area. One of the best ways you can do this, besides getting out there and walking on your own, is to take a tour. Take a local tour and get an informed view of 200 years of history. Here’s an idea of what Capital offers on its tour of Columbus…

The tour through time and space starts in Franklinton. Franklinton is the pioneer-era settlement that preceded the City of Columbus proper. It’s where our state’s troops gathered, were organized, and were sent out into battle for the War of 1812.

After Franklinton, your group will cross the Scioto River into Columbus. This is where your guide, Jean, will provide a narrated tour that will flesh out the richness of this great city. The commentary will allow you to experience Columbus in ways that will add to your appreciation of the art, history, culture, and the people of this city.

For groups of six or fewer, transportation is provided. However, for larger groups, Capital can arrange for a touring coach. You should also know that because tours are arranged, they can be tailored to fit the needs of your group. Tours gather right beside the Firefighters Union Hall on West Broad Street in Columbus. You can acquire a lot more information by phoning 614-326-0942, or through shooting an e-mail to capcitytours@yahoo.com.

Here are a few basic facts you’ll need to know in any case, should you and your friends or family decide to take the tour:

• • From Monday through Thursday, the tours take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. On Sunday, tours run from 8:30 a.m. through 2 p.m.
• • General parking in the area is f-r-e-e.
• Pricing ranges from $25 per person, with a minimum of two people needed.

Be proud of a great city, with a lengthy and fascinating history.
