2018 Delaware County Fair
Many of our readers will know what’s coming up: a great, traditional (and affordable) county fair! Firing up its tractors, demolition derby cars and trucks, and for horse racing enthusiasts, The Little Brown Jug, things get underway Saturday, September 15th and then they run for a week. And, wow, how they really run…
This major annual event at the Delaware County Fairgrounds began its journey in 1833; there’s big history here, and it’s a big fair with lots to offer. Before getting more into what’s up for this edition of this well-known fair, here are some vital statistics: Admission most days is only $6, except for Thursday when it’s $15 (due to the running of The Little Brown Jug). If you’re over 55, you can get in for a couple of dollars on Tuesday. And on Friday, there is *no charge* for the military (in uniform or with proof) or for veterans. Children 8 years or under get free admission every day. The Fair’s hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (rides run til 10).
The Little Brown Jug has its own set of prices, seating, etc. Sunday through Tuesday. You would need to reserve your seats for Thursday. For more information about the annual running of The Little Brown Jug, please visit their official site.
So what’s at the Fair this time around? Lots! In addition to the Midway, the schedule of events is much too lengthy to reprint so, to learn more about this year’s fair, you can phone their toll-free number at (800) 335-3247, or visit their extensive website.
