Jack Nicklaus purchased the 220 acres of land for his Muirfield Village Golf Club in 1966 with a vision of creating a world-class golf course. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio area and saw this vision as a way to give back to his community. This was the same year he won the first of his three British Open titles, and he named it after Muirfield, Scotland. There are 11 sub-associations/ communities available in the Muirfield Association and include such areas as Berkshire Commons which has rental apartments available. Birnam Wood is a community of prestigious condominium homes located behind the gated entrance of Estates of Muirfield Village featuring all brick European-style design. Located off Muirfield Drive, Glenbarr is an upscale attached condominium community. The Lochslee & the Mews at Muirfield are also condo communities. The Moors community is located off Muirfield Drive. Directly across the Muirfield Drive from the Moors is the single-family neighborhood of Muirfield Greene. Village at Muirfield is a detached condominium neighborhood with several homes overlooking the Muirfield Village Golf Club. There are two Weybridge communities offering fee simple attached homes.
