Clintonville is located north of downtown Columbus, between the Ohio State University and Worthington, Ohio. It has four elementary schools (Clinton, Indianola Informal, Colerain, and Indian Springs), one middle school (Dominion), and one high school (Whetstone High School). In the 2010-11 school year, the Ohio department of Education awarded Clintonville schools (averaged over Clintonville schools only) a rating of Excellent for meeting or exceeding the academic standards set by the state of Ohio.

Whetstone High School has received a bronze medal from US News & World Report Magazine as one of the nation’s top high schools, and has won additional recognition for areas such as the robotics team and writing program.
