Fundraising Event for Worthington Firefighters Community Park
July 7, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Fundraising is nearly complete for the Worthington Firefighters Community Park, with a Firehouse Wine Dinner and used car raffle on July 14, 2010. Worthington firefighters have been raising funds for five years, and are hoping this event will finalize the funding. This park is planned for the grounds of the Worthington Fire Station, to honor all past, present, and future firefighters. The park will include sculptor Ron Dewey’s “Missing But Not Forgotten”, flags, benches, and another fundraiser result; pathways of engraved pavers. The total cost of the project must be met in order to break ground, and is $40,000, of which $33,000 has been raised.
Grateful for the community support already shown, firefighters are hoping this Firehouse Wine Dinner and the auto raffle will complete the fundraising and enable them to break ground. The dinner will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 6:30pm, at the Worthington Inn. Tickets are $75 per person. The wines are by Hook & Ladder winery of Sonoma, California, paired with the food; a gourmet version of firehouse fare. There will be a silent auction, as well as the car raffle for a used car from Tilton Automotive of Worthington. The winner of the raffle will be drawn that evening. To purchase tickets for the dinner or raffle, visit www.worthingtonfirefighters.com or contact Firefighter Ted Heineman at theineman@ci.worthington.oh.us or by calling the Division of Fire at 885-7640.
